We covered a lot of ground on our first day!
We outgrew hotel rooms a few years ago. So we rented this lovely place near the conference hotel in Hapuna Beach. It sits on a couple of acres, giving us lots of room to roam and explore. It's perfect!
The kids all wanted to use the cameras on this trip. I love to see what they choose for subjects. For Grant, it's cool leaves. For Nicole, it's flowers. For Scotty, it's anything that gives him a reason to turn the camera on.
A kid-friendly hike to Akaka Falls. We figured if the tour bus full of 80-year-olds could do it, so could Max and Shari.
The kids all wanted to drink the coconut water. We stopped at a roadside stand and picked up coconut, bananas, sugar cane, and ...
... Rambutans!
Scotty loves the coconut flesh. Max buys a new bushel of baby bananas at every stop, and Grant devoured nine of our ten rambutans by the end of the day.
On top of a volcano in the national park.
We made our way around the island with our last stop being the black sand beach.
We saw a wave rescue a stranded sea turtle that was overturned on a rock.
And, of course, we played, too! Max wouldn't go in the water deeper than his toes. Every time a wave rolled in, he ran away and said, "Beach scare me, Mama!"
