Creating yummy chocolate pretzels
Creating a mess
Creating FUN memories
I like how Scotty's pretzel is patterned after a dumbbell. Nobody told him what to do, and he came up with his own way. Hey, whoever said a pretzel couldn't have chocolate on both ends?! Double yum!

Dad?!
I had been planning to go to the grocery store all day, but never made it. When Clint got home from work (after dinner), he sent me to run my errands. The babies were in bed, and the big kids were in their jammies watching a science program on the iPad.
An hour and a half later, I returned home to find the babies still in bed and the big kids still watching a show, even though it was way past their bedtime. Daddy the babysitter was asleep on the couch.
When Scotty spotted me, he immediately began to whine, "My back hurts! Can we call a doctor tomorrow?"
So I said, "Scotty, your daddy is a doctor. You can ask him."
And then Scotty said in a dejected voice, "OK. Can we call Dad?"
For once I was able to tell Scotty that his Dad was actually home (sort of!).

Miss Independence
She goes where she likes, and she does as she pleases.
She climbs everything (except for out of her crib ... for now!).
Here Shari is eating someone's Halloween candy.
Shari likes to read. She empties the bookshelf one book at a time until she's read them all.
The boys built a trap to keep Shari away from their toys, but she found a way to escape and find extra fun at the same time.
Shari likes to get the ingredients out for dinner. Shari loves real things (like cans of food, measuring cups or books) more than toys.
Shari steals Nicole's iPod every chance she gets. She loves to dance and listen to music.
Shari sorts the canned food.
Just imagine her saying, "Uh oh," after every article of laundry she extracts from the basket.
As you can see, Shari is quite capable of entertaining herself all day long.

The Essence of Grant
Clint was working on the night of our neighborhood trick-or-treat, so I loaded the babies up in the car and followed the big kids around the neighborhood.
It was cold, and sometimes the houses with lights on were spread out, so the kids would hop in the car to get warm or take a break.
Grant's LEGO costume was admittedly cumbersome, so he wore out faster than usual. Grant decided to quit early and start eating candy while Nicole and Scotty continued to gather candy. After watching his siblings accumulate mass amounts of candy (such as king size candy bars and handfuls of candy at each house), Grant sighed and said, "I wish the people would just come to the car and throw candy in my bag."
Grant and I had a little chat about work ethic and the fruits of our labors, but Grant still didn't hit the streets.
