Indiana Jones

Scotty likes Indiana Jones ... a LOT.  Scotty wanted to dress like him for Halloween last year, but I talked Scotty into reusing his old costume.  As a side note, I'm thinking of getting my Halloween act together earlier this year and making/buying the costumes my kids actually want. No commitment yet; just thinking about committing.

Anyway, when I came home from a church meeting tonight, I found Scotty watching Indiana Jones by himself.  I paused the movie (it was late), and took him upstairs to get ready for bed.  He said he wanted a bowl of ice cream (which he'd been waiting for since yesterday).  So, the two of us sat down at the table -- Scotty eating ice cream, me eating a very late dinner -- and had some very fun conversation.

************
Scotty: Why do they call him Dr. Jones at the beginning?
Mom: Because he's a professor.
Scotty: What?!  He's a professor AND a criminal fighter?
************
Scotty: Is Indiana Jones real?
Mom: No.
Scotty (dejected): But it *looks* real, Mom.
************
Scotty retold me a long action sequence from the movie, and then summed it up with, "Dr. Jones is a CRAZY guy!"

Future Scientists

Overheard ...

Scotty: When we grow up, do you want to be potion scientists together?

Grant: No. When I grow up, I'm going to be an inventor.

Scotty: What are you going to invent?

Grant (very matter-of-factly): A flying car.  That way when Mommy needs to go somewhere, we don't have to take an airplane.
