Clint built a fire, and Scotty was mesmerized! Scotty wanted to help out by adding books, bills and toys to the fire. We're going to have to keep an eye on this one.

A Whole Lot of Spice and A Pinch of Sugar
Scotty's misdeeds are well chronicled, and I would regret not recording his moments of sweetness (they do exist, you know). All three of these stories are sleep-related. I guess I like sleeping babies.
1. Nappy Nap
Scotty was supposed to take a nap, but he told me that he "no wannit." I frequently disregard what Scotty "no wants" because he's two, and two-year-olds are not in charge (in theory). Scotty has a slew of stall techniques, many of which are quite effective. The one he chose this particular day was to ask for a bowl of yogurt, even though we had just had lunch. I took pity on him and told him that he could eat a bowl, but then he had to go straight back to bed. He agreed and we headed downstairs. Since I was busy trying to finish school with Nicole and Grant, I lost track of Scotty's activities. After an uncommon silence, however, I decided I should check up on Scotty. To my astonishment, I found Scotty on his bed, under his blanket, reading a book. I checked on him about 10 minutes later, just to make sure that he was still in bed, and he was lying down with his hands propped up behind his head (a new sleeping position), ready to close his eyes.
2. Quench
Scotty woke up coughing and coughing. I was surprised that he stayed in his bed and didn't come to report to me. Finally, however, he did get up. He came to my room and asked, "Water?" I told him he could get some water, so he went into the bathroom, climbed on the counter, got a drink, and then went back to bed. He doesn't often ask permission for anything, so I thought it was cute how he asked for water when he was so desperate for a drink.
3. Community
Scotty likes to be with people. I know a lot of kids are this way as well, but Scotty never likes to be alone. He likes to take baths with the big kids (and torture them while he's at it, I might add), he likes me to lay on my bed so he can lean against me while he watches a movie, and he likes to sleep in a room only if other people are in it. He especially loves to share a bed, but doesn't often get the chance. One night I put Scotty to sleep in his bed. I left the room and heard a loud crash. I went back into the room to find out what was the matter. Scotty had apparently thrown all of his sleep accessories onto the floor and had made himself a bed on the floor, next to Grant's twin bed, where Nicole and Grant were sleeping. I told Scotty to get back in bed, to which he replied (as he patted the ground where he lay), "'Gotty bed, HERE!" I relented and told him to just "go to sleep then." I left, and all got quiet in the kids' quarters. I checked on the kids an hour later after Clint inquired as to their status. This is what I found:
Nicole has a queen bed they could all share. I don't know why they all insist on getting cozy here. Silly, sweet babies.
